I love receiving emails from readers and try to read all of them. Unfortunately I no longer have time to respond to each individual email, so please don't be offended if you don't receive a response.

I am more likely to respond to these sorts of emails:

• Inquiries about my research or software projects (especially Online Python Tutor)
• Inquiries about my academic papers
• Noncommercial discussions about computer science education
• Questions or comments about my writings
• Requests to reprint my articles with attribution
• Invitations to speaking or writing engagements
• Students with well-written and specific questions
• Anything from a friend of a friend

And I usually will not respond to these sorts of emails:

• Recruiters or entrepreneurs with job opportunities
• Business solicitations
• Proposals to place advertisements or commercial links on my website
• Requests to review college, graduate school, or fellowship application essays
• Questions about how to get into college or graduate school
• Requests for help in dealing with family conflicts
• Anybody who misspells my name or calls me by a nickname they just cleverly invented
